Be the Irreplaceable One – A Lesson from Mr. Kamalamurugan

On July 25th, we had the honour of welcoming Mr. Kamalamurugan, the Chairman and Correspondent of Sengunthar Engineering College, to Kanavu Startup Village. His words were not just motivational—they were a powerful reminder of what it means to grow with humility and commitment.

He shared his own inspiring journey with us:

Mr. Kamalamurugan began his career at Sengunthar Engineering College by managing the college buses. Later, when an important responsibility—managing the college mess—was left open, he stepped in without hesitation, even though many considered it a lowly task.

Instead of thinking about whether the work was big or small, he focused on giving his best. With consistent effort and dedication, he slowly rose through the ranks. Today, he leads the very institution where he once handled everyday duties.

In contrast, the person who refused to take up the responsibility has faded into the background.

The core message he shared with us was deeply impactful:

“Wherever you are, become someone who cannot be replaced.”
“Let your contribution be so valuable that the work cannot run smoothly without you.”

These words carry a timeless truth:
There is no such thing as small or unimportant work.
Every job done with sincerity adds value—not just to the place, but also to the person doing it.

We thank Mr. Kamalamurugan for his time, his humility, and the powerful life lesson he shared. At Kanavu, we believe in creating leaders, and this visit reminded us that leadership starts with action, attitude, and a willingness to take responsibility—no matter the size of the task.
