A Mother’s Fight to Save Her Son

Introduction

Access to proper healthcare remains a major challenge for many underprivileged families in rural India. This is the story of a single mother from Sivagiri who is struggling to provide life-saving medical treatment for her son.

Through this initiative, Kanavu took a small step towards making a meaningful difference.

The Family’s Situation

Muthulakshmi, a resident of Sivagiri, is a single mother raising two sons without any stable source of income. With no financial support system, she works only a few days a week to manage basic living expenses.

The family lives in a small hut with limited facilities, making daily life itself a challenge.

Medical Condition of the Child

Her younger son, Vinoth Kumar, is affected by a brain development disorder and requires continuous medical care.

  • Monthly medical expenses: Approximately ₹10,000
  • Nature of treatment: Ongoing and essential
  • Family income: Irregular and insufficient

Due to financial constraints, managing these medical expenses has become extremely difficult for the family.

Kanavu’s Initiative

After understanding the situation, Kanavu initiated a small fundraising effort to support the family.

With the help of our supporters, we successfully raised ₹2,5000 and handed it over to Muthulakshmi for her son’s treatment.

While this may be a modest contribution, it plays an important role in supporting immediate medical needs.

Impact of the Contribution

This contribution helps in:

  • Covering a part of the child’s medical expenses
  • Reducing the financial burden on the mother
  • Providing timely support for ongoing treatment

Even small contributions can create meaningful impact when extended at the right time.
