Today marks an important milestone for Kanavu School of English, as the Spoken English Training Programme was officially inaugurated across 113 government schools in the Modakurichi Block.
The programme is being implemented through Kanavu Trust and conducted by The Kanavu School of English. The initiative was undertaken after applying through the NSOP process and obtaining the required official permission, ensuring that the programme is formally implemented in the schools.
The inauguration was attended by DEO Mr. Paramasivam, CEO Ms. Manvizhi, and BEO Ms. Selvamani, along with teachers from all 113 government schools.
One-Day Training for 113 Teachers
As part of the launch, all 113 teachers participated in a one-day training programme conducted by our staff member Mrs. Devi Abirami.
The training focused on practical ways to conduct the Spoken English sessions effectively, including:
How to handle the classroom
How to engage students actively
How to create an enjoyable learning environment
How to take the learning experience to parents and the community
Teachers were also provided with the required learning materials to support them in conducting the sessions in their respective schools.

Learning English Through Stories
A key feature of the Kanavu School of English programme is its story-based learning approach.
Instead of depending on conventional methods such as tests and homework, students will learn English in a more natural way—similar to how they learn their mother tongue:
Listen → Repeat → Practise → Speak
The programme does not focus on regular homework or tests. Instead, the emphasis is on helping students listen, understand, participate and gradually gain confidence in speaking English.
During the training, several energizers and interactive activities were conducted. The teachers participated enthusiastically and eagerly engaged in the activities, experiencing firsthand how similar methods can be used to keep students active and involved during their classes.
Messages from the Guests
The programme began with a welcome address by BEO Ms. Selvamani.
DEO Mr. Paramasivam encouraged the teachers to make full use of this opportunity and effectively utilize the programme for the benefit of their students.
CEO Ms. Manvizhi shared an important message about identity and growth: “Everyone has a brand.” She emphasized that teachers and schools should work towards building a strong identity and brand for their schools through meaningful work and positive impact.
A New Beginning Across 113 Schools
With the successful completion of the inauguration and teacher training, the Spoken English programme is now set to move forward across 113 government schools in Modakurichi Block.
Through Kanavu Trust and The Kanavu School of English, the aim is to make English learning more natural, engaging and accessible to students by bringing a practical, story-based approach directly into government school classrooms.
The programme concluded with a feedback session, followed by the National Anthem, marking the beginning of a meaningful new journey for 113 schools, their teachers and thousands of students.
