Kanavu Startup Village successfully conducted a one-day workshop on “AI in Web Development” for the students of the Department of Information Technology at Hindusthan College of Engineering, Erode, on 18 September 2026. The workshop was organized by the IT Association of Hindusthan College of Engineering with the objective of providing students with practical exposure to modern web development, Artificial Intelligence, and real-world IT industry practices.
The workshop brought together industry professionals from Kanavu Startup Village, who shared their practical experience and insights into how software products and web applications are developed, managed, and delivered in a professional IT environment.
The session was attended by around 60 students from the Department of Information Technology. The workshop focused not only on technical concepts but also on helping students understand how the skills they learn in their academic curriculum are applied in actual industry projects.

Industry Perspective on Real-World IT Projects
The session began with Mr. Giri, CTO of Kanavu Startup Village, who provided students with an overview of how real-world IT projects function within an organization.
He explained that software development involves much more than writing code. Students were introduced to the different stages involved in a project, starting from understanding client requirements and planning the project to UI/UX design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvements.
Mr. Giri also explained how different teams and roles work together to successfully deliver a software product. The discussion covered areas such as project management, client communication, requirement analysis, task allocation, development workflows, quality assurance, deployment, and post-launch support.
The students were given an industry-oriented perspective on how developers work as part of a larger team and how communication, collaboration, time management, problem-solving, and ownership play an important role in delivering successful projects.
AI and Its Growing Role in the IT Industry
A key part of the session was focused on the recent evolution of Artificial Intelligence and its increasing impact on the software development industry.
Mr. Giri discussed how AI is changing the way developers approach software development and how modern AI tools can assist developers in areas such as coding, debugging, documentation, research, problem-solving, content generation, and productivity.
The students were also encouraged to understand that AI tools should be viewed as productivity and learning tools rather than simply as replacements for programming knowledge. Strong fundamentals, logical thinking, understanding requirements, and the ability to validate AI-generated outputs continue to be important skills for developers.
The discussion helped students understand the changing expectations of the IT industry and the importance of continuously learning and adapting to new technologies.
Practical Web Development Session
Following the industry-oriented session, Mr. Prasanth, Product Lead, and Ms. Nathiya, Senior Developer at Kanavu Startup Village, conducted a practical session on the core technologies used in web development.
The session covered HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and focused on how these technologies are used together to build functional and interactive websites and web applications.
HTML was explained as the foundation for creating the structure and content of a web page. The students were introduced to how different HTML elements are organized to create webpages and user interfaces.
The session then moved to CSS, where the speakers explained how styling, layouts, spacing, responsiveness, and visual presentation are implemented in real-world websites. The students gained an understanding of how a basic HTML structure can be transformed into a professional-looking interface using CSS.
JavaScript was then introduced as the technology that adds functionality and interactivity to web applications. The speakers explained how JavaScript is used to handle user interactions, dynamically update content, validate information, and create interactive experiences.
Connecting Academic Learning with Real Projects
One of the major objectives of the workshop was to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry requirements.
The resource persons explained how the concepts of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript that students learn as part of their academic curriculum are applied in actual client projects. They also discussed how developers work with requirements, design references, APIs, databases, testing processes, and deployment environments while building real-world applications.
The students were encouraged to look beyond simply completing assignments and focus on understanding how individual technologies come together to create complete software products.
Interactive Student Activities and Tasks
Towards the end of the workshop, all three resource persons engaged the students through practical activities and tasks.
The students from the Department of Information Technology were given tasks based on the concepts discussed during the sessions. These activities were designed to encourage students to apply their understanding of web development and think about how the concepts could be implemented in practical scenarios.
The resource persons also interacted with the students during the activities, clarified their questions, and provided guidance on approaching technical problems.
Around 60 students actively participated in the workshop, making it an interactive learning experience rather than a purely theoretical session.
Industry Exposure for Students
The workshop provided students with an opportunity to interact directly with professionals working in the technology industry and understand the expectations of a real IT environment.
Through the sessions, students gained exposure to:
Real-world software project workflows
Client requirement understanding
Project planning and development processes
Team collaboration and communication
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Practical web development approaches
Artificial Intelligence in software development
Modern AI-assisted development practices
Problem-solving and logical thinking
Industry expectations and continuous learning
The interaction with industry professionals also gave students an opportunity to understand different career paths available in the IT industry and the importance of developing both technical and professional skills.
Conclusion
The “AI in Web Development” workshop provided a valuable platform for the students of Hindusthan College of Engineering to connect their academic knowledge with real-world industry practices.
The combination of industry insights, AI awareness, web development concepts, practical discussions, and student activities helped create an engaging and informative learning experience.
Kanavu Startup Village continues to focus on creating meaningful connections between the academic ecosystem and the technology industry by sharing practical knowledge, industry experience, and emerging technology trends with students.
The workshop concluded with an emphasis on continuous learning, practical implementation, and the importance of staying updated with rapidly evolving technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and modern web development.
